2nd Take is celebrating its 4th year in business

2nd Take is celebrating its 4th Birthday this June

2nd Take has been operating succesfuly for 4 years

Everyone at 2nd Take is very proud and excited. The last four years have been characterised by new ideas, new business opportunities, great international designer Fashion, consolidating our skills and knowledge and steady growth. 2nd Take has established itself as the leader in the second-hand designer clothes business.

Our stores in Cape Town are achieving solid sales results, our brand awareness is growing throughout South Africa and we have launched our Kids Division at the beginning of the year. 2nd Take has proven to be a recession proof business model with exciting growth potential.

So far 2014 has seen us look at ways to grow the business. We started offering convenient prepaid airtime sales at check out, we added top quality second-hand baby equipment and toys, in addition to our kids clothing stock and included more new stock in our clothing segments.

We also started working with the Department of Economic Development and Tourism  and the W&RSETA, to transfer important skills to young people and provide an opportunity for them to gain work experience in their fields.

Working with young learners, who just completed their studies or schooling, is very important to us, considering that more than 3.45 million youths have no jobs and poor prospects in South Africa. South Africa has the third highest number of unemployed out of school youth in the world. Education attainment seems to have improved for the youth aged 15 to 34, but their labour market prospects have deteriorated. We are very pleased with the results of our learner programs; almost 90% of learners find employment of their choice, after completing our learner program.

We also took a strategic decision to grow our business, by offering 2nd Take as Franchise model. We have streamlined our processes, taken all our experience gained to develop a functional and succesful operations model, which easily can be duplicated. We are the first company in South Africa to offer a second-hand or vintage clothing business, as low cost franchises. In Europe and the United States, second-hand clothing stores operate successfully as chain stores. We believe it is high time for South Africa, to make the 2nd Take quality second-hand designer wear stores, available all over the country.

We forecast much excitement for our 5th year in business and are very optimistic, that we will be able to make great and affordable world fashion, available throughout South Africa.
