Fendi is an exclusive fashion luxury house whose expertise include fur, ready-to-wear, leather goods, timepieces, accessories and luxury goods.

Early life

• In 1918, Adele Cassagrande started her own business by producing leather and fur goods.
• She then married Eloardo Fendi, and they together launch their own label called Fendi in 1925.
• The label generated much success in Rome, Italy.
• In 1932, Fendi opened a bigger store in the major central of the business area Veneto, they soon became renowned for their fur-made items.


• In 1946, the business became a family affair, when the daughters of Adele and Eloardo joined the company.
• Paola, Anna, Franca, Carla, and Alda, the girls brought a new wave of enthusiasm and creativity to the brand.
• In 1965, Karl Lagerfeld joined the company as creative director for fur and ready-to-wear (RTW).
• Lagerfeld also designed the company’s signature logo.
• Lagerfeld then designed Fendi’s first women’s ready-to-wear collection, which was launched in 1977.
• In 1994, daughter of Anna, Silvia Fendi joined the company as creative director for accessories and the men’s line.
• In 2000, her creation of the Baguette put Fendi at the highest recognition in the international fashion industry by winning the award of Fashion Group International.
• In 2001, Fendi became a member of Louis Vuitton –Moet Hennessy (LVMH) group.
• This move turned the brand into multinational luxury fashion brand.


• Fendi’s specialty is fur, this is what the fashion house is best known for. The company is renowned for its exquisite fur designs and fur accessories. Fendi is also well known for its leather goods such as the Baguette, 2jours, and its Peekaboo or Pequin handbags.

Present Day

• Today the fashion house is 90% owned by the LVMH group and 10% by Fendi family members.
• There are 197 Fendi stores worldwide, and the headquarters is situated in Rome, Italy.
Karl Lagerfeld is still creative director at the fashion house and Silvia Fendi also still remains the creative director for accessories & menswear.
Pietro Beccari is the current chairman & CEO of Fendi.
