Meet the 2nd Take team
We are an enthusiastic, fun and lively bunch here at 2nd Take. We work hard to make your shopping experience exciting, happy and memorable. We approach every task head-on, no matter what it is.
We have a wonderfully fashionable team of Sales Assistants at our Sea Point store as well as a dedicated online store administration team, number-savvy accounts personnel and a creative marketing team keeping the Gardens head office busy and alive. The whole business is owned and managed by go-getter and entrepreneur, Bettina Berlep.
Bettina Berlep is the owner and founder of 2nd Take, an up-market and exclusive, second-hand store in Sea Point with an online shop. 2nd Take stocks branded international labels for men and women.
Bettina came to South Africa in 1996 and fell in love with Cape Town, especially its cosmopolitan people and beautiful landscapes. Hailing from Germany, she has travelled extensively and lived in France and England prior to making the Mother City her home.
Bettina’s professional background is varied. Her career began in the Travel Industry where she gained experience in all fields from hospitality to tour operations to student travel and airlines. From there she moved into different fields when she started a large international outsourcing business, a local recruitment agency and a transcription and translation service.
Her roles for the last 10 years involved the managing and expanding of existing businesses and the building of new ones.
“I love the possibilities that come with expanding or building a business from scratch. Once one looks at a business with growth in mind, opportunities present themselves; one just has to grasp them. It’s very exciting!” says Bettina.
Bettina’s love for classy clothes and being eco-conscious, she did not hesitate to make the jumpo fashion retail. Her decision was spurred on after talking to friends about the need for quality 2nd hand shops in South Africa. In Europe, exclusive second-hand shops are part and parcel of the fashion retail landscape.
She says, “It is all about identifying a niche market and delivering quality goods or services. We are still young as a company, but have been received wonderfully and created lots of excitement, since about 60% of our stock, can’t be purchased in South Africa. There is no doubt in my mind that interesting times lie ahead, for 2nd Take and our customers.”
