Louis Vuitton Malletier  is a French fashion house founded by Louis Vuitton in 1854.

 

Early Life and Education

  • Louis Vuitton was born on 4 August 1821 in Anchay, France.
  • He was first a French box-maker and packer when he was growing up.
  • A few months after his marriage in 1851, he left Monsieur Marechal’s shop and opened his own box-making and packing workshop in Paris
  • He then founded the brand Louis Vuitton in 1854 and became  the fashion designer of luxury bags and goods for the company
  • He passed away at the age of 72 on February 27, 1892, his son Georges Vuitton took over the empire.

  • Louis Vuitton over the years has been shortened to LV
  • The LV label design appears on most of its goods, varying from luxury trunks and leather goods to ready-to-wear, shoes, watches, jewellery, accessories and many more.
  • LV is one of the world’s top international fashion companies; it retails its products through individual boutiques and  lease departments in up market department stores.
  • LV was named World’s Most Valuable Luxury Brand for six consecutive years from (2006-2012).

 Present Day

  • Stephen Sprouse and Marc Jacobs collaborated in 2001 and designed a limited-edition line of LV bag.
  • In the same year Marc Jacobs then created the first piece of jewelldry for LV which was a charm bracelet.
  • The company celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2004.
  • In the year 2010, they opened their most luxurious store in London.
  • Kim Jones was hired in early 2011, as the Men’s Studio and Style Director. He thereafter became the lead designer of menswear whilst working under the management of Marc Jacobs.
  • Louis Vuitton opened its first Island Maison in Singapore on 17 September 2011, the first ever ‘mansion’ to be opened in South-east Asia.
